I prefer Philipa over Rachel because Rachel is a bit too breathy and angry and is a bit too messy for the role of Eliza . she'd make a great Angelica though!! And the lat note Rachel did she went a key up I think.

I agree with other comments stating that Phillipa sang it as if she were in actual pain and Rachelle sang it as if she were angry. Both did it quite well though. I'm a Phillipa fan, but the version I like better is dependant on my own mood at the time.

Philippa Soo is great! She originated the role. Rachelle Ann Go's portrayal makes more sense for me. If my husband cheated I wouldn't just be sad. I would be angry. Maybe the Filipino culture that Rachelle Ann Go grew up in influenced her performance. You'd see more women fight and get angry if their husbands cheated here in the Philippines.

They both have an amazing voice BUT Phillipa sang this so so so beautifully! You can feel the anger. It was just that… a musical! Rachelle I feel she sang this as a son an do not as if she was “speaking”

i watched rachelle’s version live and the NUMBER of times i got goosebumps was crazy and the audience was absolutely SILENCED… even after her she left the stage everyone was so silent still processing her amazing performance

It's way harder to do convey the complex mix of emotions of Pippa's version than to do flat anger like in Rachelle's. Pippa knows when to use her volume. Rachelle does nothing but use her volume.

No one exactly knew what truly Eliza felt from the betrayal (also said by the writer Mr. Miranda). From all the performances of all the "Elizas", the difference in delivery can be interpreted as the different emotions that we imagine if we were betrayed by Alexander Hamilton hahaha

I feel like Phillipa emotes more at the start of the song in a very subtle way, Rachelle kind of looks like she's holding it in and is trying to give a neutral face. Phillipa definitely gives off more pain in her version. The pain in her 3rd "you" on "how they perceive you" is soul crushing

There's no contest. Phillapa CREATED the character. Everyone else who follows just imitates her original style. Of course , the 2nd girl did amazing

Rach's tone sounds so Disney and it adds a more naive nature to Eliza. She's also much much angrier than PS's Eliza.

Rachelle definitely sounds amazing... but you felt that pain in Phillipa's version.

Just watched rachelle as eliza in the PH run. I think she is more experienced and has improved as compared to this one in the video. Rachelle ann go is really good. Loved her performance as Eliza.

Philipa's version is better in a sense that it fits the character better. In the end of the day, she forgave him and gave a second chance. Rachelle's version to me is unlikely to have enough love for him to forgive and give a second chance. Both are very powerful, different and beautiful performances. ❤

I haven't seen Hamilton nor heard any songs, also don't know who either one is. I prefer Rachelle's version though I wish she'd annunciate some of the consonants a little more. I can't help but think of Lea Salonga and how clear the words are when she sings. I'm not a theatergoer having only been to maybe 4 shows in over 40 years so if you say i just don't know theater, I wouldn't argue, but I know singing and what I like to hear.

Philippa sang so angrily no tensions in her words No lows and high notes with emphasis Rachael was so emotional like she really connected to the audience
